Environmental Enforcement Trends in the Midwest and What to do When The Regulators Knock on the Door

Understanding today's enforcement trends from EPA and state environmental agencies is crucial in ensuring compliance and remaining competitive. Ignoring the enforcement landscape poses unwarranted risks and challenges. Knowing the trends, however, is only half the battle as today's companies must be prepared to respond to an agency inspection at any given time. During this 60-minute webinar, Jim Price and Andrew Brought -- who have extensive experience on these topics -- will walk you through the current environmental enforcement trends and provide practical tips and knowledge for responding to agency inspections. In particular, this webinar will highlight recent trends in (1) RCRA hazardous waste enforcement and (2) chemical accident prevention and Risk Management Plan (RMP) matters, as two focus areas for specialized discussion.

Who should attend? Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) professionals, environmental coordinators, plant and facility managers, company engineers who handle environmental permits and issues, in-house counsel and HR representatives responsible for environmental, health and safety.

Andrew Brought is an associate practicing in Spencer Fane’s Environmental Group. Preparing for Regulatory Changes in Greenhouse Gas Emissions

The United States Environmental Protection Agency has declared that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are a threat to public health. This finding opens the door to new government action on climate change. The EPA is moving quickly to enact carbon management rules, while Congress is considering its own proposals to seize control of these energy and environmental policy initiatives. Meanwhile, regional and statewide initiatives are also impacting the carbon landscape. All of these legislative and policy proposals will have a significant impact on the way private industry does business, and businesses need to know how to plan for the future.

This webinar will provide an overview of the current carbon management environment, the current legislative and administrative framework for energy and greenhouse gas regulation, and look at affected industry segments. The webinar will present ideas on how businesses can plan for – and even take advantage of – these changes.

Jim Price is a partner with Spencer Fane, where he chairs its environmental law practice group. His practice concentrates on environmental regulation, compliance, and litigation.
