Mike Comodeca, a partner with Spencer Fane, practices with the firm's Environmental group. Mike's practice concentrates on environmental regulation and compliance issues, with an emphasis on military base closure issues, wetlands, Clean Water Act permits, air permitting, endangered species, environmental impact statements, and historic preservation.
Prior to joining Spencer Fane, Mike served as the senior environmental law attorney for the United States Army Forces Command at Fort McPherson, Georgia and was responsible for providing legal advice to approximately 20 military bases nationwide. In addition, Mike served as a senior base closure attorney, providing legal advice concerning the redevelopment of former military property at an additional 20 bases throughout the country. In that role, he participated in a wide variety of base closure actions, including entitlements, lease negotiations, institutional controls, financing agreements, insurance requirements, and other matters important to both local reuse authorities and private developers. While at Spencer Fane, Mike has represented clients in multi-media enforcement and permitting proceedings as well as in complex real estate transactions involving the transfer of federal property to the private sector. Mike writes and speaks to a wide variety of audiences on a number of environmental law topics. He is a member of the Kansas, Missouri and Colorado bars.
